Estimated speaking time

0 sec

0 words at 150 words per minute.

Estimates exclude pauses and audience interaction.

Method and limits

Use the result as a measurement, not a promise.

  1. Paste or type the exact script you plan to deliver.
  2. Choose a pace close to your real delivery; 130 to 160 words per minute is a useful rehearsal range for many presentations, not a universal target.
  3. Add time for demonstrations, pauses, questions, applause, slide changes, or interpretation.
  4. Rehearse aloud and replace the estimate with an observed time for the final plan.

Why pace changes

Conversational explanation, narration, a technical demo, a solemn speech, and rapid dictation have different natural pacing. Sentence complexity, unfamiliar names, breathing, accessibility, language, room acoustics, and audience needs also matter.

The calculator counts word-like segments and divides by the selected pace. It cannot predict emphasis or pauses. For a hard time limit, rehearse the final script and leave a safety margin.
