- Paste or type the exact script you plan to deliver.
- Choose a pace close to your real delivery; 130 to 160 words per minute is a useful rehearsal range for many presentations, not a universal target.
- Add time for demonstrations, pauses, questions, applause, slide changes, or interpretation.
- Rehearse aloud and replace the estimate with an observed time for the final plan.
Why pace changes
Conversational explanation, narration, a technical demo, a solemn speech, and rapid dictation have different natural pacing. Sentence complexity, unfamiliar names, breathing, accessibility, language, room acoustics, and audience needs also matter.
The calculator counts word-like segments and divides by the selected pace. It cannot predict emphasis or pauses. For a hard time limit, rehearse the final script and leave a safety margin.
