Built for Windows voice work
VTA Dictate supports 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. A microphone is required for live dictation, and Windows microphone permissions must allow the app to listen. Longer transcription jobs and larger speech models benefit from more available CPU, memory, or graphics performance.
Most standard editable fields can receive dictated text directly. Custom controls, elevated windows, remote sessions, terminals, and games can handle input differently, so clipboard paste is available as a practical fallback. Secure password fields should stay outside a voice workflow.
Recordings, transcripts, and exports
File transcription accepts WAV, MP3, and M4A audio. Recording quality, codec, speaker overlap, background noise, language, and the computer itself can affect the result. Keep the original recording until important wording has been checked.
Optional speaker labels use positional names such as Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 rather than identifying people. Timed transcripts can be exported as SRT or VTT subtitles and should be reviewed in the final player or editor.
Local processing and sensible file care
Core recognition, transcription, speaker labeling, and note analysis run locally. Connections can still be used for setup, speech models, license activation, updates, support, and optional diagnostics.
Recordings and transcripts may contain sensitive information even when processing happens on the PC. Use an appropriate Windows account, backup policy, shared-folder setup, retention period, and deletion routine for the material you handle.
VTA Dictate at a glance
The essentials, in one place.
| Capability | What you get | Good to know |

| Platform | 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 | VTA Dictate is built for Windows PCs. |
| Voice typing | Text in most standard Windows inputs | Use direct insertion where supported, with clipboard paste as a practical fallback. |
| Speech recognition | Runs locally on your computer | Setup, model downloads, activation, updates, and optional website analytics can use the internet. |

| Always Listening | Hands-free phrase-to-send mode | Pending speech stays in a temporary memory buffer until you send or discard it. |

| Subtitle export | SRT and VTT | Create timed subtitle files from transcripts that contain timing information. |
| License | $49 one time for up to three PCs | A personal license without a monthly subscription. |
